Day 20 of 40 (Mark 8:22-26)
Welcome backonce again to 40 days with Christ. Today is a big day! You,my friend, have reached the 50% mark! Halfway throughthe 40 day series!Let’s begin with a word of prayer.
Father, You know all things. You are above all things. May we put our hope and our trust in You and not in our own understanding. InJesus name we pray, Amen!
SCRIPTURE Mark 8:22-26*
22They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”
24He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
25Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into the village.”
A blind man is taken by the hand. Jesus puts his hands on him and asks him, “Do you see anything?” The man looks up and says “I see people but they look like trees walking around.”
Now that is an honest answer!I’m encouraged that Jesus didn’t scold that man or accuse him of not having enough faith. He simply laid his hands upon him againand then the man’seyes were more fully opened.
What if this man had simply said, “Yes, thank you Jesus. I do see some things now. This isbetter than when I was fully blind”? What if this man had just left his response at that?
I’m so glad he did not do that. I’m glad he spoke more fully about his experience so that he received a more complete and full healing.
When we first come to Jesus,we start seeing truths that we had never seen before. We start learning to trust in God in wayswe hadnever trusted Him before. But that doesn’t mean we will immediately and always see things with perfect 20/20 vision.
It really is okay for us to admit to Jesus that there are times when we donot yetsee completely clearly. Jesus can and does help his followers everyday to learn more,to grow more, andto see things more clearly along the way!
